GSMA APAC Joint Forum Explores 5G's Impact on Industry Transformation in APAC and Europe

A recent joint forum brought together members of the GSMA APAC 5G Industry & IoT Community and the GSMA Manufacturing and Production Community to explore the growing impact of mobile technology on connected industries in APAC and Europe.

The rollout of 5G is more than a technological upgrade—it’s a transformative force driving economic growth and resilience. According to the GSMA’s Mobile Economy report, 5G is projected to add nearly $130 billion to the Asia Pacific economy and €153 billion to Europe’s economy by 2030.

Eight case studies recently published by the GSMA APAC 5G Industry Community highlight the diverse applications of 5G in the region. These examples show how 5G is revolutionizing sectors such as emergency services and maritime operations in Hong Kong, advanced manufacturing in Thailand and Malaysia, logistics in Indonesia, and healthcare in Singapore. As investments in 5G infrastructure grow, the economic benefits are becoming more tangible.

During the forum, industry leaders—including manufacturers, operators, network vendors, and technology providers—shared insights on key topics:

  • Lessons learned from recent 5G deployments
  • Updates on technology advancements, ecosystem development, policies, and business models
  • Emerging opportunities and challenges in the 5G landscape

The discussions underscored how 5G is poised to unlock new possibilities for innovation, efficiency, and collaboration across industries, reinforcing its role as a critical driver of the next digital era.
