Everyone agrees that Mobile Private Networks or MPNs are on the rise and are expected to get even more popular once the enterprises and industries see their value. As a result it is not surprising to see optimistic forecasts for its adoption and growth. Here are some key ones we have come across this year:
- GlobalData, Dec. 2023: The global private wireless network market is on the cusp of substantial growth, driven by the escalating demand for reliable and secure wireless connectivity across various industries. Against this backdrop, the market is set to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 23.3% from $2.8 billion in 2022 to $7.9 billion in 2027. (link)
- SNS Telecom & IT, Dec. 2023: SNS Telecom & IT estimates that global spending on private 5G and 4G LTE network infrastructure for vertical industries will grow at a CAGR of approximately 18% between 2023 and 2026, eventually accounting for more than $6.4 Billion by the end of 2026. As much as 40% of these investments – nearly $2.8 Billion – will be directed towards the build-out of standalone private 5G networks. (link)
- TBRI, Nov. 2023: 5G and LTE private cellular network infrastructure is set to soar, with a projected CAGR of 12.6% from 2022 to 2027, reaching an impressive $8 billion. (link)
- IDC, Jun. 2023: Worldwide revenues for private LTE/5G infrastructure will reach $5.2 billion in 2027, according to a new forecast from International Data Corporation (IDC). This represents a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 21% over the 2023–2027 forecast period. Worldwide market revenue for both LTE and 5G in 2022 was just over $1.9 billion. (link)
- GSMA, Jun. 2023: The revenue opportunity for Private 5G networks is forecasted to grow from almost US$8 billion in 2023 to US$109.4 billion by 2030. (link)
- Juniper Research, Jun. 2023: A new study from Juniper Research, the foremost experts in emerging communication technologies, has found that enterprise spend on private networks will near $10 billion globally by 2028; rising from $1 billion in 2023. (link)
- ABI Research, Feb. 2023: The revenue opportunity for private cellular networks is forecasted to grow from almost US$7 billion in 2023 to more than US$96 billion by 2030 – with integration services accounting for almost 50% of these revenues. The market is driven by 4G LTE deployment until 2030 when 5G connectivity will constitute most private cellular network deployments. (link)
- ResearchAndMarkets, Feb. 2023: The global private LTE market size reached US$ 5.0 Billion in 2022. Looking forward, the publisher expects the market to reach US$ 10.3 Billion by 2028, exhibiting a CAGR of 12.8% during 2022-2028. (link)

In a recent TBR Insights webinar, Principal Analyst Chris Antlitz discussed TBR’s latest private cellular networks research. According to the brief:
Consulting & systems integration (C&SI) companies are playing a key role in bringing their ecosystems to bear in private cellular network engagements to help business entities realize their digital transformation goals. TBR expects the private 5G market to scale as more compatible endpoint devices are commercialized and key 3GPP standards are ratified. Due to these issues, the market ramp-up will be more gradual than previously anticipated.
In this session you’ll learn:
- Which verticals are driving spend on private cellular networks
- What uses cases are seeing market traction
- What role C&SIs are playing in the private cellular networks market
